As Promised …

Here are some pics of my hair, nostril piercing and tattoo.

There are some things I’d like you to know first.

1. I took all of these pictures myself with the help of my bedroom mirror. I looked in the mirror at the screen of my camera and took the pics. Not so easy. Especially to get pics of own upper arm.

2. Do you know how painful it is to take … let’s see … 36 (?!?) pictures of oneself? Very.

Okay, here goes (drum roll please …)

NB. I think my hair needs a trim already! It’ll be 4 weeks on Friday.

Nose piercing:

NB. I *heart* my piercing. It currently has some “irritation” (read: a little bump beside the whole b/c I bumped it hard a couple of times and got it snagged on a hand towel once or twice) that I’m currently treating with sea salt soaks 3x per day. It’s working

And tattoo:

NB. I really wanted my tattoo to look like a giant typewriter had written on me. The tattoo artist thought it would look cooler if I tilted the ‘i’. Sigh. I went with his suggestion b/c hey, he was the artist and I was 16! Knowledge gained? Stick with what you want!

Randomness: Nosy Movie Questions

randomness…feed your mind and your blog

week of May 6: At the Movies

1. Do you like going to the movie threater? How often do you go? What treats do you buy when you go?

Brad and I looooove going to the movies – many of our dates in the first few years we dated revolved around films. We don’t go so much anymore since it’s not really in the budget, but we definitely go whenever we can and whenever there’s a movie we would love to see in theatre. What treats? We’re generally partial to the nachos and cheese, although we both enjoy popcorn as well. We usually buy a pop too.

2. Cell phones in the theater, do you keep yours on or off?

Off. We’re pretty serious about our movies and would hate to have one interrupted.

3. What’s the last movie you went to see in the theater?

Spiderman III – yesterday!

4. Have you ever waited on line for an obscene amount of time (several hours) just to get tickets to a movie? Also, have you ever dressed up as a film character…..i.e. a hobbit, a witch or wizard…while watching a movie?

Ummm … I have probably waited between 1 – 2 hours for movie tickets … we’ve also lined up several hours before a movie starts so we can get the best seats in the house. While I have not dressed up as a film character, I was known in my younger days to dress themed ie. going to see Star Wars Episode One wearing my jeans with Star Wars patches and my Star Wars shirt, etc. =)

5. What do you like most and least about going to the movies?

Most? It’s BIIIIG and the sound is great. There’s just something in going to see a movie at the theatre.

Least? People talking – I want to throw things at them =) Also, the commercials!! I love seeing previews (the ones yesterday were great! Pirates of the Carribean 3, Shrek 3, The Bourne Ultimatum, ummmm … the one about the surfing penguins …), but I truly hate seeing car commercials and stuff. We don’t have television for a reason =)

6. What’s the worst movie you’ve ever seen? Why?

Hmmm … at the movies? Dude Where’s My Car … momentary lapse of judgement at age 16, what a waste of money! On video? That horrible movie with that washed-up actor about a cave and the thing in it … I think it had Tara Reid in it? It’s so bad I can’t even remember what it’s called. Oh. And also The Secret. And also Sin City – which we turned off after 10 minutes or so.

till next time…

I’ve been gone … oh so long …

But I’m BACK!!!! (I know, I know, you’re really excited)

My apologies for the prolonged absence. Here’s a list to make it up to you.

1. We bought our camera!!! We got the Casio Exilim on the recommendation of two of my work colleagues. It’s beautiful. If you click on the link, and hover over the colours, we got the red one =) It has some really great features, such as ‘Best Shot’ which allows you to select a pre-set setting to take the best pics (ie. night, portrait, running water, pets, food, etc.)

Check it out. Pets.

Oooooh. Aaaaah.

2. Brad and I have been decluttering, rearranging, and cleaning the apartment. The was pretty much why I didn’t blog at all last week. I really don’t have an excuse for this week though =) Here’s a before shot of the office. Eeee. I hope to have the afters soon.

3. I went to a documentary film festival in Toronto on Sunday with my good friend, Mel.

Mel was smart to bring a snack. There was no canteen.

We went to see The Suicide Tourist at The Isabel Bader Theatre at the University of Toronto.

Although quite sad, it was truly a fantastic film. I would recommend it to anyone looking for some information or some perspective on assisted suicide. It was very well made and gave me some new appreciation for life!

4. I finished reading Our Media, Not Theirs quite a while ago, read and finished Birth: The Surprising History of How We Are Born, Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth (click here for this amazing midwife’s website), and am currently reading The Doula Book. Phew! I’m trying to get through some childbirth books so that I can confidently recommend them to my sister having read them.

5. Ummm…what else? Brad LOVES his new co-op position, and is excited to be wearing jeans. To work that is.

6. Me. Ummm … I’m working? And reading a lot? Really though, there’s nothing too much new with me. Well, I did get my hair cut. And a nose piercing. So there’s a bit. I’ll get Brad to take a pic of me sometime so I can show you all my spunky new self. Yep, spunky! A patient on my unit described my hair in the following manner: “Your hair says, ‘I’m having more fun than you!'” LOL – I love it!
